World Naked Bike Ride, San Francisco

19 April 2014

Any excuse for some nudity. Rather few people showed up for this event, perhaps a couple of dozen, and most came somewhat late. Then there was one single woman among the men, and that was it.

The weather was fine, but perhaps the early date and many other events the same weekend, interfered with the turn-out today.

Basically it was supposed to be about the anniversary of the BP Deep Horizon explosion and oil spill. Furthermore, the Earth Day Festival was also celebrated., and so our nude bicyclists took the occasion to let it all out in the WNBR drive around town.

They met at Justin Herman Plaza like usual, dropped in gradually after 11:30 a.m., and for a change departed rather late, namely after 12:30 p.m.

But at least only a couple of men drove dressed, another semi-nude – but covered up with a bra only – and all the rest were nude. That included the single woman in the group.

The annual big WNBR event usually happens in June, so we’ll see how that compares to this smaller grouping. In the meantime we have the Bay to Breakers foot race next month.
