Patricia Beach, located about an hour's drive northeast of Winnipeg along Highway 59, on the southeast shore of Lake Winnipeg, continues to be a favorite spot for nude swimming and sunbathing. Locals say that the first naturists appeared at this beach back in the late 1940's,shortly after the end of WWII.. This spectacularly beautiful, natural, peaceful place is located in a Manitoba provincial park.. The main beach is strictly for textile use, but there is a small portion of the beach located out of sight from the main section, at the very far end of the park. This area is frequented mainly by a mixed-gender crowd, which includes families with children. Although not an officially legal nude-use area, nudity has been tolerated by the park management for many years, and continues to be as long as naturists do not wander out on to the main textile areas of beach. The numbers of naturists using the nude use area continue to grow rapidly in recent years, so that on a hot, 30-plus degree Sunday afternoon, naturists number in the hundreds.
