Folsom Street Fair, San Francisco 2017

Folsom Street Fair, San Francisco, 24 September 2017.

The Folsom Street Fair is an annual leather and clothing optional street fair held in September in San Francisco's South of Market district. The event started in 1984 and is California's third largest spectator event and the world's largest clothing optional leather event and raises hundreds of thousands of dollars each year for charity.

Yesterday the famous - infamous - fair admitted people as of 11 am., and very soon the sidewalks around the area were full of visitors standing in line for a block or more to gain entry.

I paid a voluntary donation as asked for, and came into the fair while still easy to get around. From 8th Avenue I went forward to 10th Avenue where it was easier to see people moving around, and among them, those that chose to be nude or almost nude.

During the first hour I got a good quantity of nude shots, and among those subjects I saw various naturists that I had seen previously at naturist events. Of those subjects a few came over to me and said hello, as they recognized me.

By 12 noon it was sunny and hot, and the masses had become so dense that it became progressively difficult to zoom the camera in on nudes. Well over 300,000 visitors were filling the streets. I decided to stay maximum another half hour, and even this early had a hard time getting through the masses toward 8th Avenue and the exit there toward 7th Avenue and bus traffic home. At 7th Ave. corner people were still queuing up on the sidewalk to slowly proceed westwards to the fair entrance.

I was glad to have made it early and got a certain amount of nude shots, but - at least for me - it was a relief to escape the increasing crowds.
